ISAT testing begins on
Tuesday, March 8 for students in grades 3-8. Testing will continue
through March 18th. A
letter about ISAT testing was sent home. It is of utmost importance that your
child comes to school on time during testing. If he/she is late on test days
he/she will not be able to take the test with the rest of his/her class and
will have to be scheduled for a make-up testing session. In addition, please
make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast each
morning.
Daylight saving time
begins Sunday, March 13. Please remember to set your clocks one hour ahead.
BE RESPECTFUL BE RESPONSIBLE DO THE RIGHT THING
On February 24th
and 25th students in grades 1-6 were able to purchase items using
their Eagle Pride Tickets.
A special thank you to Ms.
Staples and Ms. Brown for coordinating this and other special events for PBIS.
A special thank you also to the three parent volunteers, Mrs. Juana Serrano,
Mrs. Maria Almazan, and Mrs. Maricela Marin who helped with the school store.
Congratulations to our
Cheer/Pom team. On February 25th
they won the Area 11 competition which was held at Bogan High School. They will
now advance to the regional competition which will be held on March 18th. A special thank you to Ms. Rogers, the
teamŐs coach, and Mrs. Weiss, parent volunteer, for your dedication to the
girls.
Maintaining good
attendance is a priority. Attendance for the month of February was 94.69. The District goal is 95%. Our goal is 98%. Every
parent should ensure that his/her child comes to school everyday, on time.
However, when your child is absent from school, please remember to send a note
to school when he/she returns. The note should include your childŐs name, room
number, the date(s) of absence, the reason for the absence and your signature.
The note is filed in your childŐs attendance folder which is kept in the main
office. Please be aware that after five unexcused days of absence, you will
receive a five day letter and after ten days of unexcused absence, you will
receive a ten day letter sent registered mail. Attendance is especially
important for students in grades 3, 6, and 8. After nine unexcused days of absence, a student may be
required to attend summer school in order to be promoted to the next grade.
There are after school
tutoring opportunities available for students in grades 1 – 8. Please
see Mr. DeSantiago after school for more information and to register your
child.
